Postdoc in corporate networks and computational social science

Copenhagen Business School invites applications for a postdoctoral position associated with the CLONE project (Consequences of Long-term Organizational Embeddedness). This position offers an opportunity to work at the intersection of corporate network analysis, computational social science, economic sociology, and large-scale research infrastructure.

The CLONE project studies the structure and transformation of corporate networks and the organizations and individuals that constitute them. A central ambition of the project is to develop data infrastructure that makes it possible to analyse corporate networks systematically and to connect network structures to firms' economic characteristics, activities, and representations of themselves.

The successful candidate will play a central role in developing, analysing, and making accessible the project's corporate network data. The position combines independent research with collaborative data development and provides considerable opportunities for developing new research using a unique combination of network, accounting, and textual data. Examples of research areas that the Postdoc might cover:

• Corporate networks and elite structures
• Corporate data infrastructure and research databases
• Computational analysis of annual reports and other corporate texts

The Postdoc is a non-tenured position for a one-year period with research obligation. To fulfil the research requirements of the position, the applicant chosen is expected to be physically present on a regular basis and actively participate in the teaching and research activities of the Department.

The applicant must hold a PhD or the equivalent. In assessing applications, particular emphasis will be placed on research potential. Emphasis is placed on research relevant to the job description.

The ideal candidate has strong quantitative and computational skills, with experience in social network analysis and large-scale data management. Experience with corporate, accounting or textual data, record linkage, and programming in R, Python or related tools is an advantage. Knowledge of the CLONE database and historical developments of Danish corporate networks is key to be able to fulfil the tasks of the position.

The applicant must have professional proficiency in English (written and spoken).

Appointment and salary will be in accordance with the Ministry of Finance’s agreement with the Central Academic Organisation.

The Recruitment Committee will shortlist at least two applicants; when possible, five or more applicants will be shortlisted. The shortlisted applicants will be assessed by the Assessment Committee. All applicants will be notified of their status in the recruitment process shortly after the application deadline.

The applicants selected for assessment will be notified about the composition of the Assessment Committee and later in the process about the result of the assessment.

Once the recruitment process is completed, each applicant will be notified of the outcome of their application.
