Who Sugarcoat is
Branded company merchandise is a multi-billion-euro market built on stuff that gets thrown away. Sugarcoat is rebuilding it from the ground up: sustainable, high-quality goods people actually want to keep, not the disposable junk that largely defines the category today.
Some of the most recognizable brands in the world already trust Sugarcoat to do it. Klarna, Google, and Spotify are among them. Sugarcoat is profitable, growing fast, and founded and backed by Rainmaking. You will join a team of operators who have built and scaled successful companies before. Sugarcoat's goal is to set the new standard for merch across Europe, and Sugarcoat is well on its way.
The role
This is not a build-from-zero job, and Sugarcoat will not pretend it is. Sugarcoat already has a working growth engine. This includes paid media, SEO, inbound and outbound sales, and agency partners producing real revenue. What is missing is one person who owns it end to end and makes it compound.
You will be Sugarcoat's first dedicated growth hire. This role involves taking a functioning-but-leaky funnel and turning it into a deliberate, measurable machine. This machine will help Sugarcoat grow approximately five times over the next few years. You will report directly to the CEO, own the marketing budget, and have the autonomy to decide where it goes.
The catch you should understand before applying is that this is a hands-on, individual role. You will not have a team to delegate to. You will set up and run experiments yourself. This includes building landing pages, wiring up tracking, launching tests, and reading the data. Agencies are available for specialist and overflow work, such as SEO content production or creative volume. However, they are your leverage, not your engine. The core work runs through your own hands.
What you will own
Sugarcoat would rather you go deep on a few high-leverage areas than spread thin across all of them. Your core ownership includes:
- Paid acquisition - strategy, execution, and budget across Sugarcoat's paid channels, run as a continuous experimentation loop, not a set-and-forget spend.
- Conversion & website optimization - own the path from first request to first order: landing pages, funnel friction, CRO experiments you design and ship yourself.
- Lifecycle & retention - email and lifecycle flows that turn first orders into repeat revenue, where a lot of Sugarcoat's margin lives.
What you will drive in partnership
- SEO/GEO - direct strategy and use agencies/tools for production. Sugarcoat wants to win on both classic search and AI answer engines.
- Sales enablement - work shoulder-to-shoulder with Sugarcoat's sales team to arm them with the content, sequences, and signals that convert. You will not manage the sales team, but you will be the marketing engine behind it.
What you will be measured on:
A real scorecard, not a vibe, will be used. Concretely, you will own targets across:
- Blended customer acquisition efficiency (CAC / payback)
- Qualified pipeline contributed from marketing
- First-request to first-order conversion rate
- Repeat / reorder rate and lifecycle revenue
To 'grow 5x' is Sugarcoat's company goal. These are the levers you personally own to help Sugarcoat get there.
Who you are
- Five or more years in growth at a fast-growing company, with a track record you can point to. Ideally, you have owned a similar scale-up journey before and want to do it again.
- You execute, not just direct. You can set up tracking, build a landing page, launch a paid experiment, and configure a lifecycle flow without waiting on anyone. This is the non-negotiable one.
- Deep in at least two of the following areas: paid, CRO/web, lifecycle/email – and competent across the rest.
- Strong with data and systems. Comfortable in analytics, and ideally already running AI-enabled GTM plays rather than just reading about them.
- B2B experience at the seam between marketing and sales.
- Comfortable owning a budget and steering agency partners as a force multiplier.
This role is probably not for you if…
- You are looking for your next step into people management – there is no team here, and that is by design (for now).
- You would rather set strategy and hand execution to others. The hands-on work is the job.
- You want fully remote. Sugarcoat is an on-site team in Copenhagen and values being in the room together.
